If you asked ten random people on the street what it would take to make raisins dance, most of them would no doubt say ‘magic’. But no actual magic is involved in this neat experiment. All you need is a little help from chemistry and physics, as well as some sparkling water. And raisins of course.

Equipment

  • Raisns and/or grapes
  • 1 tall and see through glass
  • Sparkling water

Instructions

  1. Pour sparkling water into the glass
  2. Place a couple of raisins or grapes into the sparkling water. If you use grapes, you can draw a cute face on the grape first
  3. Watch and listen as the raisins move up and down
  4. Let the glass do its thing for a while. Why does it stop? Can you make the raisins dance again?
