Our lives depend on electricity, and here you have a tube that can teach you a lot about it.
If you hold both ends of the tube, it makes a sound and lights up. That’s because you’ve made something called a closed electrical circuit with your body, without you noticing anything! When you release one end of the tube, it will stop making light, because then you have broken the circuit.
What happens if you are holding hands with another person and each of you hold an end of the pipe? Will it still flow through you? How many people can hold hands with each other and make a closed circuit?
Maybe you can test the electric detector when you walk around the Christmas tree?
The electric detector comes with an integrated battery and a sheet with explanations of what is happening.
