Quartz is a mineral composed of the elements silicon and oxygen (SiO2). Additionally, there may be traces of other substances that give quartz its various colors.
There is a lot of quartz in the Earth’s crust, and it can be used for many different things. In watches with electronic movements, a quartz crystal is used. It oscillates at a specific frequency, making quartz clocks more accurate than traditional mechanical ones. Quartz can also be used to make glass, ceramics, cement, and steel.
